About Us
Paul and I have been married for 31 years, are parents and grandparents and have been in the practice of Electrology for 29 years in Norwood Center. While maintaining our Electrology practice, we have managed to keep active in local school, civic and church activities, as well as, in the Massachusetts Association of Electrologists and the American Electrology Association.
Barbara Doe Ferrazzani, R.E., R.I., C.P.E., C.L.T.:
In 1975, I started this business while Paul finished his course of study in Electrology. My hair problems had begun in my teenage years. I tweezed and shaved like all my friends did, but the advice and confidence to seek the help of an Electrologist came through my sister, a registered nurse. She was experiencing marvelous results with Electrology. In about one year's time, I was able to conquer some pretty substantial facial and body hair. My friend who accompanied me to my appointments only got her facial hair done in that same time frame. (So much depends on health, heredity and temporary hair removal methods you've employed prior to your Electrology treatments when determining how long it will take to successfully treat your hair problem.)
Paul Ferrazzani, R.E., R.I., C.P.E.:
The more actively politically involved of the two of us, Paul served the Massachusetts Association of Electrologists as their President in 1984 & 1985. Subsequent to that, he served the American Electrology Association as First Vice-President from 1985 until 1990. After 25 years of full- and part-time practice in Electrology, Paul is taking a sabbatical in order to pursue other entrepreneurial interests.
About Our Credentials
"R.E." means "Registered Electrologist."
This designation is given to individuals who have completed the 1100-hour course of training and successfully passed the practical and written examinations by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' State Board of Electrology. This exam is administered twice a year. No one in Massachusetts may practice Electrology without this credential. Until this year, re-licensure required no more than the paying of a licensing fee. As of August, 2001, however, Massachusetts Electrologists were required to earn ten hours of continuing education through seminars or home study per year.
"R.I." means "Registered Instructor of Electrology."
This designation also requires the passing of a state board exam, but one is not eligible to apply for this credential until one has completed five years in the practice of electrology. This credential allows the bearer to teach electrology as an instructor in a licensed school of Electrology and to be an examiner at state board examination sites. For further information, please go to www.state.ma.us/reg/boards/et, the website for our state board.
"C.P.E." means "Certified Professional Electrologist."
This credential requires the successful passing of an exam administered by the International Board of Electrology Certifiers. Re-certification is granted when one has completed 75 hours of continuing education in a five-year period. We have been certified since 1986, when this certification first came into existence.
