Does Electrology hurt?

The sensation you feel when you are being treated varies from one area to another, but it is not the insertion of the probe that you will feel; it is the heat generated by an electrical current. Both prescription and non-prescription topical anaesthetic creams are available for those who find this process unconfortable.

How long do I have to let my hair grow to have an Electrology treatment?

Your hair need not be longer than 1/8th inch in order for us to remove it by Electrology.

May I continue to use temporary hair removal methods while I am having Electrology treatments?

For the most part, it's best not to. Tweezing, waxing & depilatories are out of the question; but, cutting with a scissors or shaving are okay. These two DO NOT STIMULATE hair growth: while tweezing, waxing & depilatories DO STIMULATE hair growth.

How will my skin look as I leave your office after an Electrology treatment?

Most people can expect a minor skin irritation in the area of treatment. A cold compress is applied immediately to the treated area to reduce or eliminate any irritation. Patients are instructed to use an antibiotic cream as a post-treatment therapy for a few days. Patients with oily skin may require the more drying action of rubbing alcohol for their condition. For most people, facial redness disappears within one or two hours; body treatments take longer to return to normal because they are covered by clothing.

How often will I need to be treated?

This answer depends much on the severity of your problem, how old you are, what kind(s) of medication you are on, what temporary hair removal methods you have employed up until now. If you wait until your hair problem is major or massive, you are going to need treatments significantly more often than someone who comes when his or her problem first becomes apparent.

Is Electrology expensive?

Most people need to have their upper lip or chin done. As a rule, we do not work on an upper lip longer than 15 minutes at a time. The fee is only $25 for 15 minutes. Most chins need about 30 minutes to treat them and that fee is only $35. (For the chin, much depends on the severity of your problem and your skin's reaction to the process as to how long we work.)

Do you accept credit or debit cards?

In order for us to keep our Electrology fees reasonable, we accept payment either by cash or personal check. Credit card payments would cost us more to process and we would have to pass this fee on to you.
